I am a photographer and a sociologist - a social observer with a camera.
Some say we are in the midst of postmodernity, a time characterised by social chaos, fragmented identities and instability. However when we pause for a moment we find order in the natural world remains constant. I am drawn to both the order and the chaos.

'Photography and sociology have approximately the same birth date, if you count sociology’s birth as the publication of Comte’s work which gave it its name, and photography’s birth as the date in 1839 when Daguerre made public his method for fixing an image on a metal plate. From the beginning, both worked on a variety of projects. Among these, for both, was the exploration of society' (Howard S. Becker, 1974).
